About Me

Hello! My name is Michael Ferguson, also known as “Fergie.“ I’m a game developer and an actor from Hillsboro, Ohio. I’m a Miami University alum (Class of 2024) and a first-generation college graduate. I’m also the first Miami student to hold both a B.A. in Theatre and a B.S. in Games and Simulation with a minor in Computer Science! I’ve released four indie games so far, and have experience performing in plays, films, musicals, radio shows, and video games!
I’ve been playing video games since I was three years old, and from fighting the covenant with my brother in Halo to experiencing the importance of companionship in Mass Effect, they connected with me deeply. They inspired me to learn how to program, so that I too can create experiences that connect with others or bring people together. My specialization is in Gameplay and UI Programming, as well as Technical Design. I enjoy prototyping gameplay systems, while also focusing on making UI/Gameplay more intuitive and immersive!
I started acting when I was in high school at the same time I was learning to program. After I heard my band director call me “good for nothing“ under his breath, I took an intro course to acting and I fell in love with it since. My specialization is comedy. I don’t know what everyone is going through, but if I can make at least one person’s day better through my performance, then my day was not wasted.
Currently, I’m searching for opportunities in the gaming/software industry to grow my experience as a game developer, either in Gameplay/UI programming or game design. I’m also searching for opportunities to help bring my love of video games and theatre together, such as Voice-Acting opportunities.
When I’m not programming or performing, I like spending time with my cat Rascal, baking holiday desserts, discussing Dragon Age and Mass Effect, enjoying the outdoors, catching up on my video game backlog, or filling the void with Kevin McGarry. Feel free to ask about my opinions on S’mores desserts and cheesecake!
